MVIT was founded in the year 1989, by late Sri M. Visvesvaraya who was a great Engineer and a former Diwan of Mysore.

He is also the founder of Sri Krishnadevaraya Educational Trust which runs Architecture, Engineering, Dental and Ayurved Colleges in Bangalore City.

MVIT is spread over 113 Acer of land located near to Air Force Station in Yelhanaka, North Bengaluru and is managed by Sri Krishnadevaraya Educational Trust.
